PURPOSE AND VISION

Wilim Berrbang offers cultural support and assistance to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people that attend Western Health.  We aim to ensure that you know about, can access & navigate all Western Health services.

Western Health

Wilim Berrbang provides support across a wide range of units and specialty areas in Western Health, including:

  • The Emergency Department.
  • Maternity (Galinjera and Koori Maternity Service).
  • Inpatient wards.
  • Mental health.
  • Drug and alcohol services.
  • Community-based services at the Melton campus.

Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officers (AHLOs) can:

  • Provide emotional, social and cultural support to you and your family while you are an inpatient of the hospital.
  • Help you to participate in decisions about your care.
  • Provide information about hospital services and referrals to Aboriginal and other community services.
  • Help with basic material aid e.g. emergency clothing, car parking costs.
  • AHLO’s are on-site at Sunshine Hospital and offer a mixed telephone and on-site service at Footscray Hospital.
