PURPOSE AND VISION

A society, free from the problematic use of alcohol and other drugs, in which citizens reach their full potential and are meaningfully engaged in work, family and community life.

Odyssey House Victoria

Odyssey House Victoria is a specialist alcohol and other drug treatment organisation that provides holistic opportunities for change and growth by reducing drug use, improving mental health, and reconnecting people to family and the community.

Specific programs in the west include:
Youth and Family Services
Aims to reduce a young person’s alcohol or other drug use and to minimise harm caused by use. Helps participants to manage other problems like mental health, education, family and legal issues.
Participation in the program is voluntary and individuals wanting assistance can self-refer. The program also takes referrals from the criminal justice system through ACSO (Australian Community Support Organisation).

Discovery program – Day Rehabilitation
Supports participants and their families to address problematic alcohol and other drug (AOD) use. The program runs a series of activities and groups to assist participants to change their behaviours and gain skills to help reduce or cease problematic alcohol or other drug use. Participants are supported in establishing healthier relationships and lifestyles.

In Lower Plenty, we provide
Residential Rehab where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are welcome to participate in the weekly Buladu Ngarrgu (Grow Knowledge) program. This benefits all residents of the Therapeutic Community while offering relevant support and cultural recognition to Aboriginal residents. Residents are introduced to and participate in a range of activities including art, music, Totem poles, Didgeridoos, clap sticks, outings to Aboriginal cultural events, linkage to Indigenous organisations, introduction and understanding of their cultural heritage, and dancing and fire ceremonies.
