PURPOSE AND VISION

Ngwala Willumbong Means “Dry Place” in Pitjantjatjara language. Ngwala will strive to achieve world class alcohol and drug services, facilities and programs that address social disadvantages for the Aboriginal community. Ngwala will work with individuals, families and communities in a culturally sensitive manner to reduce harm associated with drug and alcohol use and to provide a range of services that enhances physical, emotional and spiritual well being.

Ngwala Willumbong Aboriginal Corporation

Ngwala Willumbong provides a range of assessment, referral and treatment services to individuals and families who are experiencing the effects of substance misuse.

The Aboriginal AOD Western Service is delivered in partnership with Odyssey House Victoria and is part of the Ngwala Outreach Services.  This committed group of experienced professionals skilled in drug and alcohol work are able to work with Aboriginal people to address a variety of issues.

A range of program options are offered such as linkages with Housing Programs, Drug and Alcohol counselling, Youth focused programs, Legal Services, Health Services and other specialist services that our clients may need.

Aboriginal Alcohol and Other Drug Workers provide culturally safe outreach case management support to Aboriginal people who are affected by alcohol and/or other drug use.

Within a culturally safe and harm minimisation framework, the worker will offer:

  • AOD assessments
  • Individual Treatment Plans
  • Psycho-social support
  • Links to specialist AOD and other agencies
  • Advocacy on behalf of clients.
