PURPOSE AND VISION

The Aboriginal Services Network of the West (ASNoW) involves community service organisations across a range of sectors that have agreed to work together to promote and provide culturally safe programs and services according to local Aboriginal community priorities in western metropolitan Melbourne.

Aboriginal Services Network of the West (ASNoW)
  1. Promotes cultural safety in and between agencies.
  2. Strengthens partnerships that progress self-determination and service delivery by Aboriginal community-controlled organisations .
  3. Connects the Aboriginal community workforce.
  4. Advocates for Aboriginal employment and engagement with Aboriginal businesses.

An Aboriginal Steering Group, open to any Aboriginal members of the Network, determines the direction and operations of the Network.

Any Aboriginal person working in the west is welcome to attend the regular informal peer support opportunities.

Any organisation working with Aboriginal community in any sector in Melbourne ‘s suburbs is welcome to participate in the Network.

Wyndham City Council supports and auspices the Network.

The ASNoW led the establishment of this website in 2021.  See the Deadly Western Connections story.    In early 2022, the Aboriginal Services Network expanded its scope from Wyndham-Hobsons Bay to include all western metropolitan Melbourne and involve the whole community of this website.
