Indigenous Programs Coordinator

AVI is a not-for-profit organisation based on Wurundjeri Country (Fitzroy, Melbourne), and manages the Australian Volunteers Program on behalf of the Australian Government. The Australian Volunteers Program works with partner organisations across 26 countries, supporting them to achieve their own development goals. The program part of Australia’s foreign aid and development portfolio.

The Indigenous Programs Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating project activities,
  • Supporting Indigenous volunteers;
  • Engagement with Indigenous organizations
  • Coordinating the program’s Indigenous Volunteer Support
  • Advisory Panel; and coordinating projects such as knowledge exchange programs.

You do not need to have experience in international development to apply. We are looking for someone who has strong project-coordination skills, has a solid understanding of Indigenous ways of working and can build genuine and respectful relationships with Indigenous people and organisations. Flexibility, creativity and an interest in international development is also an advantage.
